DISA: Development Initiatives for the Socio-economic Advancement
for rural poor and extreme poor Women



Vision and Goal

Contribute to the reduction of vulnerability of poor and extreme poor women through the strengthening of their capacities to generate additional incomes and access flexible credit systems adapted to their needs.

Objectives

Strengthen the capabilities of poor and extreme women and their groups to generate additional incomes and to enhance their socio-economic status in their family and community.

Strengthen the local partner organisations in order to provide advisory and financial services adapted to poor women of their intervention area.

Provision of flexible credit for distressed women and extreme poor

Achievements (December 2008)

410 women's groups developed skills to plan and implement joint actions according to their priorities
410 women's groups were trained in the frame of the market development concept
14,000 poor and extreme poor women generated higher incomes
7,200 women acquired new skills in different income generating activities
7,000 poor and extreme poor women received a flexible loan
75 different income generating activities were instructed

132 micro enterprises were established


215 sessions were organised for gender awareness
