Contribute to the poverty reduction of poor and extreme poor households through the development of human and institutional capacities and better local resource management.

Capacity development for accessing and using income and employment opportunities.
Strengthening Community Organisations to promote self-help development processes.

Promotion of exchanges and collaboration with other development organisations to increase the project's effectiveness.

Achievements (December 2008)

1,425 cluster platforms representing 4,666 community based organisations and 298,000 households (125,000 CBO member and 173,000 non member households) are presently:
Identifying and implementing local development priorities
Acquiring resources and services impacting on economic development
Building linkages with service providing organisations and Union Parishads
Developing service providers at local level, in collaboration with SAAKTI
Addressing gender inequalities

Involving the extreme poor in income generation activities

USD 11,05 million (2004 - 2010)
